Outside the Principality, the Orchestra has performed in the most important auditoriums and halls in Spain and has collaborated with the Bilbao Association of Friends of the Opera and in such relevant summer events as the Santander festivals, Music and Dance Festival of Granada and the Contemporary Music Festival in Alicante, as well as in the Cuenca Religious Music Week and the Bilbao Musika-Music Festival, to which it is regularly invited. In addition, the Orchestra carries out intense education and social work in Asturias, which is expanding its horizons year after year, finding a tremendous welcome wherever it is presented. Its main activity revolves around the concert seasons it offers each year in Oviedo and Gijón. It is made up of sixty-nine teachers from various countries in the European Union, Russia, the United States, and Latin America. The OSPA is a reference both inside and outside Asturias for its versatility, its interpretive capacity and its indisputable quality. It is an autonomous body of the Ministry of Education and Culture, and a member of the Spanish Association of Symphonic Orchestras (AEOS). His Majesty King Felipe VI is its Honorary President. The OSPA was created in 1991 under the auspices of the Government of the Principality of Asturias, with the primary aim of musically and culturally enriching the region. Since his debut with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra under Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos at Lincoln Center's Avery Fisher Hall, he has played in more than forty countries, becoming the "global ambassador of the Spanish guitar", according to Billboard Magazine.Īmong the highlights of the 2020-21 season was his performance of the Aranjuez Concert with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra and its chief conductor Kirill Petrenko, on the occasion of the New Year concert broadcast in Europe by ARTE television. Pablo Sáinz-Villegas has been acclaimed by the international press as the successor to Andrés Segovia and a world ambassador of Spanish culture, being the first solo guitarist to play at Carnegie Hall in New York since Maestro Andrés Segovia in 1983, as well as the first guitarist to play with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra since 2001. He was also artistic director of the Amsterdam Percussion Group and regularly conducts specialized training. Former assistant to maestro Alberto Zedda, he has premiered hundreds of newly created works with great success. He has also worked as musical director with “La Fura dels Baus” since 2014. Josep Vicent has directed opera productions at the Teatro Real in Madrid, the Liceo Theater in Barcelona, the Leipzig Opera House and the Maestranza Theater in Seville. His exciting career as a conductor includes regular collaborations with some of the most prestigious ensembles in Spain and around the world. In Spain he will collaborate with the National Orchestra of Spain, the Orchestra of Valencia and the Orchestra of Castilla y León. During the 2020-21 season he will combine his position as chief conductor of the ADDA Symphony with concerts as guest conductor leading the Sichuan Symphony Orchestra of China, the Opera National de Rouen-France, the Philharmonie Zuidnederland, and the Belgian National Orchestra on tour in Spain and Belgium, as well as the Israel NK Orchestra in eight concerts in their country. Chief conductor for the Jeunesses Musicales World Orchestra since 2005, he was also principal conductor for the Illes Balears Symphony Orchestra and artistic director of the Xenakis Festival. Since 2015, Josep Vicent has been artistic and musical director of the Alicante Provincial Council Auditorium (ADDA), as well as the main conductor for the ADDA Symphony Orchestra since 2018.
